Because I have moved so much throughout my life, the concept of roots is meaningful to me. I love the coastal Mangrove tree which has developed a way of surviving in brackish, tidal water. The tree is largely roots and fish use these as nurseries for their young. The image also was an opportunity to depict water which I have fallen in love with since moving to Florida. Techniques and materials: Hand dyed and commercial cottons, netting, machine
appliqué, quilting. Hangs from a rod through a sleeve sewn on the back.
