Our Zen group used to meet at the Morikami Park in Delray Beach, Florida. After meditating, to emerge into the splendor of the semi-tropical moon was an experience. The moon, as it rises above the earth's heat, is huge and luminous and I tried to capture its almost sun-like radiance as it shone through the cabbage palms and pine trees. Around this time, I experimented with ripping the fabric and letting the raw edges show to let the texture of the fabric be exposed. This piece was juried into the Cornell Museum's Inspirations '99 in Delray Beach, Florida. Techniques and materials: Hand painted and commercial cottons, netting,
appliqué, quilting. Hangs from a rod through a sleeve sewn on the back.
